This is a very simple and economical direct-action hand pump, which I drew during his stay in South America. PVC pipes and fittings made of rubber inner tube, a cap of Coca-Cola bottle, stainless steel screws and copper - is made of materials that did not corrode. There are no seals on the piston ring gap to a single play, but requires a simple filter can be used below the foot valve to keep sand out. I do the filter from a length of PVC pipe that I drilled with manyHoles, then wrap with one or two rounds of plastic woven bag of feed and some wire or string to hold it. I was able to sell the kit for the whole pump, including making the filter (but it requires less of the length of PVC pipe to reach the water, which varies) for only $ 10 and I know of at least agree that they are still in use after more than three years of daily use.
